I did receive an email, a sales pitch for Internet purchasing, was not advised if the vehicle was available. A few days later I got an email from another person at Carricks to see if I had been contacted. After explaining the contact I had received, I was informed the vehicle was available. Although, by this time I was looking at another vehicle at a different dealership.

He seemed very pleasant and cooperative until he tried to slide a bit extra into the price. I would have had to have the car shipped, so I knew the price of the car and the approximate price of the shipping. Couldn't figure out for a minute why my arithmetic wasn't adding up. There was an extra $750 to $1000 (depending on the final shipping cost) added in - a previously undisclosed dealer fee. Ok, lots of independent dealers have a fee like that. But it would have been so much better if he had disclosed it at some point, instead of trying to get it by me in the total.

I gave advance notice I was coming to see the car. I showed up 2 hours late on a Saturday morning, the car was being driven daily by one of the sales reps. It was very dirty from the use and rain the previous days. Frankly the emotion that is evoked when you see a car for the first time was lost. It is not that I could not see past the dirt and daily use issues, but it did not wow me at all. I would up passing and deciding to keep my existing car until the right one came along. Having a low mileage car clean, and ready to review seems fundamental in the business. right?
